According to Ports & Ships, the eThekwini Maritime Cluster (EMC) along with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and the Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa (PMAESA) will be hosting a two day anti-piracy workshop in Durban.
It is to be held at the Elangeni Hotel (North Beach) tomorrow and the next day (November 1 and 2).
The workshop will feature various international and SA speakers who will present papers on maritime safety and security; anti- piracy strategies; the implementation of the Safety of Life at Sea (Solas) user guide; securing maritime trade and various other matters related to maritime security – all with special emphasis on the Indian Ocean and the PMAESA region.
The participating countries include Mozambique, Kenya, Namibia, Seychelles, Mauritius and Madagascar.
