Angola’s space agency, established 10 years ago, is progressing steadily to provide the government with valuable information to build key elements of the economy through earth observation laboratories.
The country's space agency has also carried out a lot of work on building earth observation labs that now support the Angolan government and offer information on key sectors of the economy, vital for future prosperity.
"So far we have launched two satellites. The one launched in 2017 unfortunately suffered an orbital failure, so we have now launched another satellite. It is a high-throughput satellite, which will be used for broadband connectivity in Angola and Africa," said the head of the Angolan National Space Programme Management Office, Zolana Joao.
Speaking on the sidelines of this year's World Satellite Business Week in Paris recently, Joao said the country benefited from space technologies in many ways.
Citing an example of the usefulness of the information, he pointed to the fact that Angola had been using satellites to connect business and people in the most difficult remote areas where they don't have access to any communications infrastructure.
