2015 Customs Tariff Amendments – Published

For many weeks now we have been reminding you, under our Watch List, that Tariff 2015 would be published before 29 November 2014. We were very close, it was published on 28 November 2014.
(i) The annual European Free Trade Association (EFTA) phase-down in accordance with the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). (effective 01 January 2015)
(ii) The reduction in the “General” rate of customs duty on paper and paperboard of tariff subheading 4811.41.90 in accordance with Itac Report No.151 – “Reduction in the rate of duty on paper and paperboard”. Tariff description: “Paper, paperboard, cellulose wadding and webs of cellulose fibres, coated, impregnated, covered, surface-coloured, surface-decorated or printed, in rolls or rectangular (including square) sheets, of any size (excluding goods of the kind described in heading 48.03, 48.09 or 48.10): Gummed or adhesive paper and paperboard - Self-adhesive – Other”. (effective 01 January 2015)
(iii) Technical amendments and creation of separate 8-digit tariff subheadings for goods classifiable in Customs tariff chapters 2 (meat and edible offal), 4 (dairy produce; birds' eggs; natural honey; edible products of animal origin, not elsewhere specified or included), 15 (animal or vegetable fats and oils and their cleavage products; prepared edible fats; animal or vegetable waxes), 30 (pharmaceutical products), 32 (tanning or dyeing extracts; tannins and their derivatives; dyes, pigments and other colouring matter; paints and varnishes; putty and other mastics; inks), 33 (essential oils and resinoids; perfumery, cosmetic or toilet preparations), 38 (miscellaneous chemical products), 39 (plastics and articles thereof), 70 (glass and glassware), and 85 (electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof; sound recorders and reproducers, television image and sound recorders and reproducers, and parts and accessories of such articles) (effective 01 January 2015)
(iv) The creation of a separate 8-digit tariff subheadings for chicken meat classifiable under tariff subheading 0207.1 – “Meat and edible offal, of the poultry of heading 01.05, fresh, chilled or frozen  - Of fowls of the species Gallus Domesticus” (effective 01 February 2015)
(v)  To delete Anti-dumping Item 201.02/0207.14.90/01.08 on chicken meat and to insert the following as a consequence to an earlier deletion in Schedule No. 1 Part 1 to the Act: Anti-dumping Items 201.02/0207.14.91/01.08; 201.02/0207.14.93/01.08; 201.02/0207.14.95/01.08; 201.02/0207.14.96/01.08; 201.02/0207.14.97/01.08; 201.02/0207.14.98/01.08; and 201.02/0207.14.99/01.08. (effective 01 February 2015)
(vi) To delete the following Anti-dumping Items: 207.01/3907.60.90/01.08; 207.01/3907.60.90/02.08; 207.01/3907.60.90/03.08 and to insert the following Anti-dumping Items: 207.01/3907.60.9/01.07; 207.01/3907.60.9/02.07; 207.01/3907.60.9/03.07 as a consequence to a deletion in Schedule No. 1 Part 1 to the Act. Customs tariff chapter 39 (plastics and articles thereof). (effective 01 January 2015)
(vii) To delete Countervailing Items 235.00 and 235.01 as they have become redundant (effective from 01 January 2015)
(viii) To substitute Anti-dumping Items as a consequence of an amendment in Schedule No. 1 Part 1 to the Act - Intended implementation (effective 01 January 2015)
(ix) Amendments to delete Rebate Items: 302.02/7010.90/01.05 to correct the rebate code applicable to a 6-digit code; and 306.14/12.01/01.04 as the expiry date was 30 June 2011 (effective 0 January 2015)
(x) To substitute Rebate Item 311.03 to read "Industry: Textile Weaving" (effective 07 December 2012)
(xi) Amendment to delete Rebate Item 497.01 as it is an empty line (effective 01 January 2015)
(xii) Amendment to delete Rebate Items 498.01 and 498.02 as they are empty lines (effective 01 January 2015).
