Capable of carrying highly sensitive cargo Anna Cox AIRLINE CARGO Resources’ trucking service is the talk of the town, says general manager Natalie Rice. “Not only is the service fast and reliable, but the prices are proving to be very affordable to the airfreight market,” she said. ACR has over 25 airlines contracted to its trucking division. “This offers each airline extra destinations, and in so doing expands their route networks. “All the airlines who are contracted to ACR agree that their load factor to and from the coastal areas has increased tremendously. Some airlines are even considering adding the coastal cities as online destinations to their network because of the success of ACR trucking on their behalf,” she said. Airlines who have realised the demand for coastal cities have taken to the idea of allocating the coastal cities allotments on their Johannesburg terminating flights, she said. “ACR launched and has successfully managed this emerging trend in the South African market and by using our state-of-the art, up-to-date trucks we are able to carry highly-sensitive cargo, such as computer systems and automotive electronics,” she said. This because of the vibration-sensitive, air-cushioned suspension systems used. The trucks are all fitted with full, roller-bed systems which means that the ground-time is reduced to simply a roll-on/roll-off scenario. This considerably reduces handling times at origin and destination, enabling the pallets to simply be loaded onto the connecting flight. This procedure allows for built-up units to be accepted at the coast or hub and transferred complete to the destination, thereby totally eradicating the problem of damaged, lost or pilfered cargo, said Rice. All ACR’s trucks are fitted with a complete satellite tracking system. Some are fitted with extra long- range fuel tanks, ensuring a non-stop journey. “This erases many security risks that may occur on South Africa’s roads. The long-range tanks, the satellite tracking, and constant communication with the driver is our winning recipe. Our fully comprehensive insurance coverage also gives our loyal customers total peace of mind offering R5 000000.00 cover per truck load,” she said.
