The professional Society for supply Chain Management (Sapics) has a new name. It will be known as the Association for Operations Management of Southern Africa, reflecting more clearly its role and the industries it serves, says Sapics president Tracy Cheetham. “The term ‘operations management’ includes the disciplines of logistics, warehousing and transportation, and the professional aspiration of Sapics members will remain the integrated management of the supply chain,” says Cheetham. The new name is also designed to more clearly communicate Sapics's association with American affiliate Apics, The Association for Operations Management in the United States
