Good news for business
and industry – there will
be no power cuts during
the winter months,
according to Eskom CEO,
Brian Molefe. Speaking at
the launch of the Transnet
Enterprise Development
Hub in Saldanha Bay
on Friday, he said the
electricity parastatal
was planning only minor
maintenance on its
stations for the next three
months.
Furthermore, the first
of six planned units at
the partially built Medupi
plant has been generating
power at full capacity (800
MW) since last Thursday.
Molefe said the other five
units were expected to
come online by 2021.
