- The NCT recorded a throughput of 115 146 TEUs in the first eight months of operation, compared to the 89 602-TEU throughput during the last eight months of the old container terminal.33 STS (ship to shore) crane operators have undergone intensive training.
- This contributed to a record of 46 berth moves per hour on the Maersk Lunz on March 30.
- 281 staff members have been deployed to the NCT, with further staff growth in the pipeline.
- Since the commissioning of the NCT, ten passenger liners have called at berth number nine, translating into more than 5 000 international tourists visiting the port city of Walvis Bay.
- On June 23 one of the largest vessels to call on Walvis Bay docked. CMA CGM operated the Mediterranean Bridgewith a length of 335.63 metres, following the successful trial call of the first 9 000-TEU Maersk Sheerness with a length of 335 metres on April 24.
- The MV Mediterranean Bridgedischarged 1 781 TEUs and loaded 697 TEUs, which was a record of 2 478 TEUs handled on a single vessel at the port.
- On June 21 Maersk broke its own African record for reefer lifts on a single vessel. The Santa Rosa loaded 334 full reefers in Walvis Bay. Santa Rosa sailed from Walvis Bay carrying a record 1 763 reefers, primarily of South African fruit.
- The Yi Long Shan off loaded a record 42 000 tons of sulphur destined for Swakop Uranium on July 17.
- Although the breakout of the Covid-19 pandemic has negatively affected the movement of goods for all countries, regardless of the mode of transportation, Namport off loaded 2 427 vehicles from various ro-ro vessels from the beginning of 2020 to mid-June.
