The Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) has urged local businesses to make use of its electronic certificates of origin service, which is available in an easy application platform.

JCCI has, for decades, issued manual certificates of origin before it first introduced its electronic service several years ago.

“In 2015 we introduced an electronic certificate platform, which combines the best electronic powerful eco-solutions,” the JCCI said in a statement.

The International Chambers of Commerce World Chambers Federation is the international custodian that sets the rules and the standards for the issuing of certificates of origin. These rules are recognised by customs worldwide, and incorporated in the JCCI service.

The benefits of an electronic certificate are:

  • It has a QR scanner barcode to enable verification
  • Verification can also be done on the website: https://www.certificateoforigin.com
  • Online application at no extra cost
  • Certificates are available in minutes
  • You can apply and print at your own desk.
