A FREE market in the liquid fuel industry would see a drop in price, according to Andrew Banks, senior manager for petroleum affairs at SAA.

He reckons that we should have a free market, generally - although with some protection.

We believe the price (of jet fuel) would go down significantly, he said.

Banks is talking about 10c-15c a litre.

We are paying about 30% more (in SA) on a like-for-like basis than at Heathrow or other major locations, he said.
