South African
commercial vehicle
suppliers are following
the European model
of supplying factoryapproved
used trucks
through their dealer
networks.
It is much the same
business model as
that used by premium
car brands such as
BMW, Audi and
Mercedes-Benz.
Original Equipment
Manufacturers (OEMs)
are trying to maximise
the earning potential of
both themselves and their
dealer networks.
TruckStore, the used
commercial vehicle
specialist from Daimler,
has been opened by
Mercedes Benz South
Africa (MBSA) in
Centurion, Gauteng.
MBSA is the first market
performance centre
(MPC) in the world to
bring TruckStore outside
of Europe, according to
the company.
“TruckStore is a
Daimler initiative which
began operations in 2002.
This very strong model
concept has been adapted
to suit the Southern
African market,” says
Martin Zimmermann,
President and CEO of
MBSA.
