Customs clearances at the South
Africa/Mozambique Lebombo
border post will speed up with
the sharing of data by the
customs officials in the two countries,
according to Michael Henning, general
manager of Easyclear.
"Recent developments and the close
working relationship between the
South African Revenue Service
(Sars) and the Mozambique
revenue authority has resulted
in some understandings
and established data
communications in line with
the one-stop border project.
"i expect to see, in the
very near future, complete
data communications
between the two countries
further enhancing the
turnaround time for
customs clearances at
Lebombo,” he says.
While Easyclear as a software
service provider is not active
in Mozambique itself, it
facilitates the “movement of
trade through Lebombo and
other neighbouring ports to
Mozambique, with our clients
accounting for the bulk of the
road freight through Lebombo to
the port of Maputo and beyond,”
Henning says.
Easyclear, which covers “all
facets of customs clearing and
forwarding,” recently added
tracking via web and through
Smartphone and mobile devices.
“The fast pace of technology
has determined and shaped
the future of customs clearing,
as is evident through the Sars
modernisation process.
“We are developing modules
and capabilities to provide
visibility across the supply
chain using mobile and
broadband webbased
and cloud
technology,” he says.
