Customised solutions are IT automated messaging system caters for automotive industry

CUSTOMISED SOLUTIONS are the order of the day as online access to track and trace information becomes the accepted norm, says Safcor Panalpina IT director Jane Tennant. “The reality is that supply chains are not all created equal and therefore all have different information requirements,” says Tennant. “Information may need to be ‘pulled’ via a web interface or it may need to be ‘pushed’ via an emailed report. At other times a flexible query is the answer. Different information may be critical at different times and based on this information, decision-making can be improved.” Safcor Panalpina does not see customer service as a one size fits all, says Tennant. “We realise that we are there to add value to the logistics and supply chain process by developing customised information and systems which can support the informational needs of the supply chain to make it as seamless, fast and effective as possible.” One of these is a fully automated messaging system in the automotive industry which schedules imports and exports. Another incorporates door to door tracking with customised reporting. “The solutions we develop are wide and varied, from complex messaging solutions to customised reports and simple online queries. Some clients may want to customise reports themselves while others may require standard queries and reports. The most important factor is to meet the business needs and assist our client to become more effective and profitable.”
