Since no further nominations for the position of Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) had been received by the deadline of 31 December 2016, the incumbent Director-General, Roberto Azevêdo, is therefore the only candidate for the role. He confirmed his willingness to serve a second term at the outset of the selection process. His current term comes to an end on 31 August 2017.
