Third-party logistics (3PL) giant Kuehne + Nagel will have a new CEO from August next year following Tuesday’s announcement that its long-serving chief executive, Detlef Trefzger, has decided to step down for personal reasons.
He will be replaced by Stefan Paul, head of road logistics and sales at the 3PL.
Trefzger leaves the Swiss forwarder after eight and a half years, capping his stay at the company with a major milestone earlier this year when it bought Apex International.
Its acquisition of the Hong Kong logistics services provider propelled Kuehne + Nagel to become a globally dominant player in airfreight forwarding.
Its year-on-year earnings doubled, and pre-tax profits also increased by 50% to $1.96 billion in 2021’s 3rd quarter.
