On 5 September Brazil became the 120th contracting party to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonisation of Customs Procedures (Revised Kyoto Convention or RKC).
Accession to the RKC and implementation of its provisions will assist Brazil as it seeks to further develop its international trade and enhance economic competitiveness.
The Convention’s key elements include the application of simplified Customs procedures in a predictable and transparent environment, optimal use of information technology, utilisation of risk management for efficient Customs control, a strong partnership with trade and other stakeholders, and a readily accessible system of appeals.
