Bomb scare disrupts activities at Lagos airport

Thorough screening of vehicles and people coming into and going out of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, almost paralysed business activities there on Friday, according to allAfrica.com.

The screening, which was carried out by a combined team of the Air Force, the Police, the State Security Service and the security department of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) was due to a reported bomb scare.

During the exercise, there was traffic gridlock on the road leading to the airport.

But most airlines went about their normal flights at both the local and international wings of the airport.

Last month the Federal Government began the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras around the MMIA to forestall possible bomb attacks.
