Barloworld Logistics Middle East
& Asia recently closed a deal
with mall developer BLB Project/
Hightower Properties to fulfil
logistics requirements for two mall
constructions in Zambia, namely
Manda Hill Centre and Coppercity
Mall.
According to managing director
Frank Courtney, the promising
business deal came about because
of teamwork between their branch
offices in Johannesburg, South
Africa and Lusaka, Zambia. “The
project commenced for our team in
Zambia following a lead from our
key executives in South Africa. This
is definitely a testimony of how our
previous international acquisitions
expanded our reach to several
niche services within the transport
logistics activities within the African
continent,” Courtney said.
Barloworld Logistics acquired
Swift Freight International in 2008,
including affiliates in the Far East
and Germany, plus over 20 offices in
Africa. “The acquisition exemplified
the significant growth potential
for Barloworld Logistics, which
ultimately made it possible for the
company to facilitate a rapid and
extensive geographical expansion
into South East Asia, the Middle
East, Western Europe, and Africa,”
said Courtney.
“This vast footprint combined
with our agent network means
there are not many places we are
unable to reach in a seamless and
professional manner,” he added.
