Argentina the102nd Contracting Party to the Revised Kyoto Convention

Publish Date:
30 Jun 2015

Argentina’s Federal Administrator of Public Revenue, Ricardo Echegaray, deposited his country’s Instrument of accession to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonisation of Customs Procedures (Revised Kyoto Convention or RKC) on 19 June 2015.

The RKC is the international standard for making Customs regulatory procedures as efficient and effective as possible. The Convention’s key elements include the application of simplified Customs procedures in a predictable and transparent environment, the maximum use of information technology, the utilisation of risk management, a strong partnership with trade and other stakeholders, and a readily accessible system of appeals.

Having entered into force on 3 February 2006, the Revised Kyoto Convention now has 102 Contracting Parties.

WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya welcomed the accession of Argentina as a demonstration of the country’s commitment to implementing Customs procedures adapted to the international trade environment and to enhanced trade facilitation, which would hopefully also inspire other Members to accede to the RKC.
