JOHANNESBURG, February 12 (ANA) - South African companies showcasing local wines are making inroads at the Prodexpo international trade fair running until Friday in Russia's capital Moscow, the department of trade, industry and competition said on Wednesday.
The department funded the trip for the group of companies from the agro-processing sector through its Export Marketing and Investment Assistance scheme.
Prodexpo is one of the largest international shows for the food and drinks sector in Russia and Eastern Europe.
"The competition here is stiff but our wines are strongly gaining ground and I am optimistic that we will secure deals by end of the show and beyond," said participating businessman Wahed Khan, director of global business development at Cape Dreams.
The international marketing and brand manager of Cape Diamond Wines, Anneli Karsten, said the company had been in the Russian market for a while and was in the process of finding an importer for three of its ranges.
