A customs insider working at the Beitbridge border has reported that the Zimbabwean Revenue Authority (Zimra) is checking every truck going in.
Apparently the SA Revenue Service (Sars) is only ‘allowed’ to release a certain number of trucks every hour or so.
While industry waits to hear from the Shipping and Forwarding Agents’ Association of Zimbabwe about what’s going on, the queue going north was said to be seven kilometres from the border this morning.
In recent video footage seen by Freight News, trucks could be seen head-to-heel on the bridge across the Limpopo, stretching south into the distance.
It led a commentator to say: “Is this bridge engineered to carry so much dead weight?”
