Uganda has a six-year plan costing over R4.5 billion to upgrade Entebbe Airport.
The airport authority expected passenger traffic (1.3 million last year) to expand by about 7.5% per annum over the next five years.
Cargo is growing more slowly, increasing from 49 000 tonnes in 2010 to about 52 000t last year.
The upgrade plans include a rebuild of the two runways, and a new passenger terminal, control tower and cargo-handling facility.
