Several reports of continued congestion were received this morning from transporters stuck in the Beitbridge backlog, where the south-side truck queue is at a standstill because of slow processing on the Zimbabwean side of the border.
On the WhatsApp group of the Transit Assistance Bureau (Transist), one of the hauliers said trucks heading north were now waiting six days to pass through the border.
Another cross-border operator told Transist the queue was 7.5 kilometres long.
Today is day 40 of the recent backlog, with truck drivers waiting in soaring temperatures to proceed north on their journeys.
