The Ethiopian Freight Forwarders and Shipping Agents Association (EFFSAA) has been chosen to host the 2027 International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) World Congress.

According to an official announcement, this prestigious event will take place in Addis Ababa, the lively capital of Ethiopia, marking a significant moment in FIATA’s history as it enters a new century.

Dawit Woubishet, President of EFFSAA, said the selection was a point of pride, not only for Ethiopia, but also for the African continent.

He emphasised that hosting the FIATA World Congress was a remarkable opportunity for Ethiopia, a country known for its rich cultural heritage, dynamic growth, and important role in regional and international diplomacy.

Woubishet noted that the event represented a turning point for Africa, highlighting the continent’s growing significance in global trade and logistics. He also mentioned that Ethiopia’s strategic position and rapidly advancing infrastructure made it an ideal host for this new phase of international co-operation.

The Congress is expected to attract over 800 industry experts, leaders, and stakeholders from across the globe.

It will focus on key issues such as sustainability, digitalisation, and infrastructure development in Africa, as well as the policies needed to support the region’s expanding role in global logistics.

The official release also pointed out that the event would showcase Ethiopia’s vital contributions to the logistics industry and its position as a key connector between Africa and the wider world.
