EXPORT CONSOLIDATION Services has launched a direct consolidation service into Dubai.

The groupage specialist has tied up with National Shipping in Dubai, headed up by Peter Frangenheim, who is well known in South African shipping circles.

The first shipments arrive in the Arab Emirate this month. With deep sea markets changing all the time for SA shippers, ECS is keen to keep in tune with new trends.

We're looking at Miami as a distribution hub for central America and the Caribbean, director John Covey told FTW.

Negotiations are underway with a neutral NVO in Miami. This would offer shippers to the region big benefits in terms of transit times, he said.

In the meantime, Covey says Ghana, Australia, and Mombasa are some of the promising new markets on which ECS is focusing.

Its global service uses Singapore and Zeebrugge or Antwerp as consolidation hubs.
