Meeting the needs of customers along the entire land-to-sea value chain, including back-of-port warehousing requirements, has been top of the agenda for South Africa Cargo Services (SA Cargo).
According to Mndeni Ngcobo, the company’s commodities and marketing manager, this comes amidst growing challenges for commodity producers.SA Cargo identified the need for an “ecosystem economy of services and efficiencies” and launched Vertically Integrated SA Cargo Solutions (VISACS). “It is a strategy that allows us to play along the entire land-to-sea logistics value chain,” he explained.
“Seeing that SA Cargo has presense at six South African ports and the fact that we have the capacity to handle road transport, stevedoring, warehousing, bulk storage and various other back-of-port services, the mines have realised that we can certainly play an integral part in the dilemma so many of them face around their value chain. By leveraging our partnerships with SOEs and major bulk producers, we are slowly becoming a niche player in this regard.”
