The impasse between the UK P&I Club and the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) over the release of the Ever Given, appears to be at an end.
The news was revealed in a brief announcement by the UK Club.
“Following extensive discussions with the Suez Canal Authority’s (SCA) negotiating committee over the past few weeks, an agreement in principle between the parties has been reached,” the statement reads.
“Together with the owner and the ship’s other insurers we are now working with the Suez Canal Authority to finalise a signed settlement agreement as soon as possible. Once the formalities have been dealt with, arrangements for the release of the vessel will be made.”
It’s several months since the vessel was dislodged after being jammed in the southern channel of the Suez Canal for a week, blocking traffic and disrupting world trade.
